Privacy
GamePrimer is a static website. It has no accounts, no logins and no comment system, and it does not ask you for personal information.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own and does not use browser storage to track you across visits.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages get read and where readers arrive from. It is aggregate-only and deliberately limited: it sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not follow you to other websites. Visitors are counted using a hash derived from the incoming request rather than an identifier stored on your device, and that hash is discarded after 24 hours, so return visits are not linked over time. Vercel states that the data is not tied to or associated with any individual or IP address.
What a page view records:
- the page URL, the referring URL, and query parameters
- approximate location (country, region, city) derived from the request
- device type, operating system and browser, with versions
- a timestamp
What else we count:
- when a link out to Steam is followed, and which part of the page it sat in
- when a video player is started, and which video it was
- on the home page, which block a link was clicked in (the featured game, the game grid, the tools, the recent updates or the trust strip), which game it pointed at, and whether it led to a game hub, a quick link, a tool or another page
- what is typed into the site search once you stop typing, how many results it found, and — when a result is opened — the search text together with the page it led to. The searches that find nothing tell us which pages are missing. The text is kept as typed (up to 255 characters), so do not put anything personal in it
These are counted the same way as a page view: aggregate totals, no cookie, no identifier stored on your device, and the same request hash that is discarded after 24 hours — so actions from the same day can be grouped, but nothing links them to a person or across days. We count them because they tell us whether the links and videos we put on a page are actually useful, which parts of the home page people actually use, and what people look for and do not find — which page views alone cannot.
Because this site has no accounts, no forms and no user-specific URLs, none of the above identifies you.
Community votes
One page lets readers vote on a tier list. To hold each address to five votes a day, a vote stores a one-way hash made from your IP address, the UTC date and a secret — never the address itself. The hash cannot be reversed, and because the date is part of it, tomorrow's hash is a different value. Those hashed rows exist only to enforce the daily limit and are deleted within two days; what is kept permanently is a count per player name. Nothing links a vote to an account, because there are none.
Advertising
There is currently no advertising on this site. If that changes, this page will be updated before the first ad goes live, and it will say what is collected and by whom.
Hosting
The site is served by Vercel, which processes standard server request data (such as IP address and user agent) in order to deliver pages and protect the service. That processing is governed by Vercel's own privacy policy.
Embedded content
Some pages may embed video from YouTube. Until you press play, the embed loads only a thumbnail — but that thumbnail is fetched from YouTube's image servers, so YouTube does receive a request when the page loads. The player itself, and the tracking that comes with it, load only after you click. Links to stores such as Steam are ordinary outbound links, and those sites' policies apply once you follow them.
