What kind of game it is
The sequel keeps the shape of the original: you move through a hand-drawn, side-on world and talk, look and solve your way forward rather than fight. Portable Moose has described the puzzles as challenging and confirmed a hint system, so getting stuck is meant to be recoverable.

Every line above was re-read against its primary source on . Where Portable Moose has not said something, this page says so rather than guessing.
Do you need to play the first game? Portable Moose has not said so outright, but it has said this one begins at Episode Six and continues the story directly from the original’s ending — so it is written for people who have played it.
“Sally Face 2” is not the original’s Episode Two
This is the single most common mix-up, and it is worth getting straight because search results blend the two constantly.
The original Sally Face is one game in five episodes. Its second episode is called Episode Two: The Wretched, it came out in 2017, and everything written about “Sally Face chapter 2 walkthrough” or “apartment code” belongs to it.
Sally Face 2 is a separate game. And here is the detail almost nobody has picked up: when it enters Early Access, the first thing you will be able to play is Episode Six — Portable Moose is continuing the original’s episode count rather than restarting it. Under the episode plan announced so far, the sequel therefore has no “Episode Two” of its own.

Where the story picks up
Portable Moose’s own description is short: the sequel continues after the haunting climax of the first game, and follows a group of friends trying to find meaning in a world broken by darkness.
That is the whole of the official premise. The screenshots show a ruined city, a rural house and a handful of characters, but Portable Moose has not confirmed who any of them are.
The most recent official updates
The Steam store page opens for wishlisting
The store page added the Early Access Q&A, the supported operating systems, the system requirements and the English-only language list to the public record. It also revealed that Early Access begins with Episode Six. The release date stayed "To be announced."
The sequel is revealed on the original game's 10th anniversary
Portable Moose announced Sally Face 2 during a live anniversary stream and published the Official Teaser the same day. The press kit went up with the release date given as TBD and Steam Early Access named as the first release.
The sequel is confirmed as still the studio's main priority
Announcing a board-game Kickstarter, Steve Gabry added that Sally Face 2 "has remained main priority and is coming along very nicely" — the last progress statement before the reveal, and the clearest evidence that the crowdfunding campaign in search results belongs to the tabletop game, not the sequel.
