Which Edition to Buy: Standard vs Deluxe vs Ultimate vs Premium
What each Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters edition contains, what the Season Pass and Ultimate Pack add, the Premium Edition, and prices on every store.

Buy the Standard Edition unless you already know you want all six Season Pass characters. The Deluxe Edition is the Standard game plus the Season Pass for $20 more — $5 less than buying the pass later. The Ultimate Edition adds five kits, three balls, two celebrations, two menu themes and early unlocks of Neo Drive Shot and Neo Tiger Shot, none of it exclusive. On PC, buy on Steam: in the UK and Europe it is £5 and €10 cheaper than the same edition on console.

Every mode, every team and all 110-plus launch characters are in the Standard game. The pass adds six more characters over the next year; the Ultimate set is cosmetics plus two shortcuts. Nothing in either add-on is needed for online play.

The Nintendo eShop lists the Standard Edition at $59.99 in the US, in line with the other consoles.

So each step up the ladder saves a little over buying the add-on afterwards — Deluxe saves $5 on the pass, Ultimate saves $5 on the pack — but only if you were going to buy it anyway.
What the Season Pass contains
Bandai Namco has committed to three DLC Character Packs, each with two playable characters:

The pass also includes the Black Ball customization. The only schedule Bandai Namco has given is that the contents will be released by August 2027 — the Japanese site puts the end of the window at 27 August 2027 — and the six characters have not been named. The roster page tracks them as they are announced.
Each pack will also be sold individually, and Bandai Namco’s own listing warns about it: the pass “includes content sold individually and within the Deluxe & Ultimate Editions”. Do not buy the pass on top of a Deluxe or Ultimate copy.
What the Ultimate Edition Bonus Set contains
Sold separately on Steam and Xbox as the Ultimate Pack:
- 5 uniforms — a gold kit, plus Junior Youth-design kits for Japan, Germany, France and Argentina
- 3 ball customizations — a gold ball and the two “challenge letter” balls from the Thailand Youth exchange
- 2 goal celebrations
- 2 main-menu themes — one an original illustration by Yoichi Takahashi, the other an illustration made for this game
- 2 early-unlock move cards — Neo Drive Shot (Tsubasa) and Neo Tiger Shot (Hyuga)
The wording on the cards matters. Bandai Namco calls them early unlocks, and the Japanese site says outright that they can also be obtained by progressing through the game. The pack gets you the two upgraded shots on day one; it is not the only way to get them. How move cards are earned in play is in the unlock guide.
The Premium Edition is a PS5 disc with merchandise
Bandai Namco Europe sells a physical Premium Edition for PS5 at €139.99 / £119.99:
- the game on disc
- the Ultimate Edition content, delivered as a code by email
- a Tsubasa Ozora mini jersey (10 × 10 cm), an alternative version of the in-game Japan kit
- a double-sided pennant (20 × 27 cm) — Tsubasa on one side, Santana on the other
- a thank-you letter from Yoichi Takahashi, printed in Japanese with an English translation on the back
- six stickers
There is no Switch or Xbox Premium Edition. Standard physical copies exist for PS5 and Switch; Bandai Namco’s US store lists both at $59.99.
Japan has its own physical tiers — a 特装版 at ¥21,800 plus tax and a 超特装版 at ¥37,800 plus tax that bundles the Season Pass and Ultimate set digitally with a serial-numbered Takahashi character print, a tapestry, a T-shirt and a display ball. Both sold out at ASOBI Store and Premium Bandai.
What pre-ordering gave you, and what you can still get
The pre-order bonus had three parts:
- 2026 Japan National Team & World Youth Jersey Set — two kits
- Early Team Unlock — the Brazil Youth team playable from the start
- Early BGM Access — two tracks, Moete Hero -WORLD FIGHTERS Ver.- and Moete Hero -Youth Ver.-, playable from the start
Missed the deadline? The jersey set is now sold on its own for $1.99. The other two parts were early-unlock rights: Brazil Youth and both tracks are earned by playing, which is why they are not sold separately. Physical pre-order codes expire on 26 August 2027.
Owners of Rise of New Champions get a free pack
The Save Data Bonus Pack — the Nankatsu Middle School uniform, the Toho Academy uniform and the ball customization “Tsubasa’s Challenge Ball Slammed at Wakabayashi” — is free when the console finds Rise of New Champions save data from the same platform family: the PS4 game’s save on your PS5, or the Switch game’s save on your Switch. Bandai Namco’s terms for the bonus name those two cases only and say outright that the Steam and Xbox versions get no free copy, so on Steam and Xbox, and on any console without the old save, the same three items are the $1.99 add-on. Check your add-on library before buying it on PS5 or Switch: if the save was detected, the pack is already there.
Which one should you buy?
- You want the launch roster and nothing more: Standard, on Steam if you are on PC.
- You are sure you will still be playing next summer and want the DLC characters: Deluxe. It is the cheapest route to the Season Pass.
- You want Neo Drive Shot and Neo Tiger Shot without earning them: Ultimate. Everything else in the set is cosmetic.
- You collect: the Premium Edition, and only on PS5.
- You are not sure the game is for you: read the launch-week verdict first. Steam reviews are split down the middle, and the pass is a bet on a game you have not played yet.
Edition FAQ
Does the Deluxe Edition include the Ultimate Pack?
No. Deluxe is the game plus the Season Pass. The Ultimate set only comes with the Ultimate Edition, the Premium Edition, or as a separate $14.99 add-on.
Are the Ultimate Edition move cards exclusive?
No. Neo Drive Shot and Neo Tiger Shot are early unlocks; Bandai Namco’s Japanese site confirms both can be obtained by progressing through the game.
Can I upgrade from Standard to Deluxe later?
Yes, by buying the Season Pass separately — $24.99 on Steam and Xbox, $5 more than the gap between the two editions.
Is the Season Pass content dated?
No. The only official window is “by August 2027” for all three Character Packs, and none of the six characters have been announced.
Is the Premium Edition available on Switch?
No. The Premium Edition is a PS5 disc sold through Bandai Namco’s European store.
