Two patches have published notes. The launch patch of 27 August 2026 (28 August on Steam) carried a different number on each platform — PS5 and Steam 1.03, Switch 1.02, Xbox Series X|S 1.01 — and its notes say only stability, usability and “various other improvements”. Ver. 1.04, released 31 August on PS5 and Steam and 3 September on Xbox Series X|S, fixes a crash after some story sections, a Goalkeeper Skill that activated without meeting its conditions, and text that implied more than one Custom Player could be created. The official update page does not list 1.04 for Switch.

This page records what Bandai Namco has published, from its own notices: the Japanese official site’s update page, the Bandai Namco Europe news post and the Steam announcement. Nothing here is inferred from build numbers or storefront timestamps.

Ver. 1.04 — 31 August 2026

Published on Steam and on Bandai Namco Europe’s news page on 31 August under the title “Free Update Data (Ver. 1.04) Release Notice”. Three fixes are named:

  • A crash “after some parts in the story.” The notice does not say which parts.
  • Goalkeeper Skills could activate for certain teams “even when the required activation conditions were not met.” Fixed.
  • Custom Player text. In some languages the text “incorrectly implied that multiple Custom Players could be created, contrary to the intended game specification.” One custom player is the design, and the custom player guide is written around it.

Plus “other minor fixes and improvements”, unnamed. Consoles need an internet connection to take the update.

The English notice gives one version number and no platforms. The Japanese official site’s update page has since added a per-platform table:

Platform Version Released
PlayStation 5 1.04 31 August 2026
Xbox Series X|S 1.04 3 September 2026
Steam 1.04 31 August 2026

Nintendo Switch is not in that table. The last Switch version the page lists is 1.02, from the launch patch.

What it does not mention. The launch-day red screen and the crash after the company logo on PC are absent from the notes, so Bandai Namco’s two workarounds in the beginner guide remain the only fixes it has published for those symptoms, and the PC crash thread is still collecting reports. CommunityA Steam thread opened the day the patch shipped reports crashes continuing after it. The online “transmission error” is not mentioned either; the online guide has what is known about it.

Pages this patch changed on GamePrimer. The beginner guide and the verdict page no longer tell PC players to wait for a crash patch; the online guide records that the notes skip the transmission error; the custom player guide cites the one-custom-player wording. All four were updated on 2 September 2026.

The launch patch — 27 August 2026

The Japanese official site announced a free update on 27 August 2026, with the Steam version following on 28 August, the day the game reached Steam. The version number differs by platform:

Platform Version
PlayStation 5 1.03
Steam 1.03
Nintendo Switch 1.02
Xbox Series X|S 1.01

The notes are three lines: improved game stability, improved usability, and “various other improvements”. Nothing more specific was published, so nothing more specific is recorded here, and no GamePrimer page changed because of it.

How this page is kept

For every patch with published notes, this page records the version exactly as published, the date and platforms, the official link, what it fixes in the publisher’s own words, and which GamePrimer pages changed because of it. It is checked on every notice and at least once a fortnight otherwise; the date at the top is the last check. Player reports are labelled as such and never stand in for a patch note.

Updates FAQ

What version is the game on?

Ver. 1.04 is the latest version with published notes. It came out on 31 August 2026 on PS5 and Steam and on 3 September on Xbox Series X|S. The official update page does not list 1.04 for Switch; the last Switch version it lists is 1.02, from the launch patch.

Where are the official patch notes?

Bandai Namco Europe’s news page in English, the Japanese official site’s update page, and the game’s Steam announcements. All three are linked in the sources on this page.

Its notes do not say so; the crash they name is one after some story sections. The beginner guide has the workarounds Bandai Namco published for the red screen and the post-logo crash.

Is it worth waiting for another patch before buying on PC?

The verdict page weighs that, platform by platform.
