Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is out now. It launched on 28 August 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with Japan’s console versions a day earlier on 27 August. Steam’s listing reads 27 August because its single worldwide unlock fell on that day in US Pacific time. There is no PS4, Xbox One or native Switch 2 version.

Release date by platform and region

Platform Japan Everywhere else
PlayStation 5 27 August 2026 28 August 2026
Xbox Series X|S 27 August 2026 28 August 2026
Nintendo Switch 27 August 2026 28 August 2026
PC (Steam) 28 August 2026 27 August 2026 on Steam’s listing

The console stores unlocked at midnight local time on each date. Steam unlocked once for the whole world: Bandai Namco’s Japanese release notes date it 28 August in Japan, and Steam’s own store page dates it 27 August, which is the same moment seen from the US west coast.

Platforms

  • PlayStation 5 — digital and disc. The PS4 is not supported.
  • Xbox Series X|S — digital only in every region. There is no Xbox One version, and it is not a Game Pass title.
  • Nintendo Switch — digital and physical. On Nintendo Switch 2 it runs as a Switch game; Nintendo lists it as “Supported — game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch”, so there is no separate Switch 2 version and no Switch 2 upgrade.
  • PC — Steam only, Windows only. No Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, macOS or Linux version.

Bandai Namco’s launch-day wording is the whole list: “PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.”

Price at launch

Store Standard Edition
Steam $59.99 · £49.99 · €59.99 · ¥8,470
PlayStation Store · Xbox Store $59.99 · £54.99 · €69.99 · ¥8,470
Nintendo eShop (US) $59.99

Steam is cheaper than the console stores in the UK and Europe. The Deluxe and Ultimate tiers, the Season Pass and the physical Premium Edition are compared on the editions page.

Size, frame rate and PC requirements

Platform Download size Frame rate
PS5 · Xbox Series X|S 23 GB plus updates up to 60 fps
Nintendo Switch 12 GB up to 30 fps
PC (Steam) 22 GB depends on the graphics mode

On PC, Bandai Namco ties its requirements to the game’s three graphics modes:

Minimum (Performance mode, 1080p/60) Recommended (Balanced mode, 1080p/60)
OS Windows 11 Windows 11
CPU Intel Core i5-10600K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Intel Core i7-13700K / AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
RAM 16 GB 16 GB
GPU NVIDIA GTX 1650 Super 4 GB / AMD RX 5600 XT 6 GB NVIDIA RTX 4060 8 GB / AMD RX 5700 XT 8 GB
Storage 22 GB 22 GB

The same listing says 1080p at 30 fps is possible on an Intel i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600 XT with 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 970 or RX 570, and that Windows 10 version 1809 or later with a 4 GB VRAM GPU is the floor for the DirectX 12 API. If the PC version crashes after the logo or shows a red screen, Bandai Namco’s own fixes are in the beginner guide.

Release FAQ

Is Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters on PS4 or Xbox One?

No. It is a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S game only; the previous game, Rise of New Champions, was the last-generation entry.

Is there a Switch 2 version?

No native version. The Switch game runs on Switch 2 under Nintendo’s compatibility programme, at the same 12 GB size and with the same behaviour as on Switch.

Is it on Xbox Game Pass?

No. It is sold at full price on the Xbox Store.

What time did the Steam version unlock?

Bandai Namco has not published a clock time. Steam’s listing dates the unlock 27 August; the Japanese release notes date the Steam version 28 August — the same moment on different sides of the date line. Every platform is live now, so the question only matters for the record.

Did pre-ordering get you anything?

Two kits, the Brazil Youth team from the start, and two BGM tracks. The kits are now a $1.99 add-on and the other two are earned by playing; details on the editions page.

How many teams and players are there?

22 national teams, a dozen club, school and special teams, and over 110 playable characters — listed on the all teams and all characters pages.
