Two things on that sheet apply everywhere and are worth knowing before any platform choice: there is no HDR on any version, and English audio covers only the match commentary — the story is voiced in Japanese on every platform.

What “30 fps, may fluctuate” means in practice

It is the only performance statement that exists. No outlet has published a Switch performance test; every review so far was played on PS5. Bandai Namco’s own wording is a 30 fps cap that “may vary in places”. Treat the Switch build as the version that trades half the frame rate and the 4K output for the handheld.

Switch 2

The game is listed as Nintendo Switch 2 compatible with “game behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch”. That is the whole statement: it runs, it is the Switch build, and there is no Switch 2 edition, patch or paid upgrade. Nintendo Australia lists the download as smaller on Switch 2 (9.7 GB) than on Switch (10.9 GB).

Price, physical copies and bonuses

• eShop: $59.99 / £54.99 / €69.99 / ¥8,470 for the Standard Edition, the console price rather than Steam’s lower UK and EU price. Deluxe and Ultimate are sold on the eShop too; the editions page has the contents.
• Physical: Switch and PS5 are the two platforms with boxed copies. Japan’s 通常版, 特装版 and 超特装版 all list a Switch version, and Western retailers stock a Switch box.
• Pre-order bonus: on Switch it was granted only for eShop purchases — a boxed pre-order did not include it. The jersey set is now a $1.99 add-on and the rest is earnable in play.
• Save Data Bonus Pack: free if the console holds Rise of New Champions Switch save data; the transfer works within the same platform family only.

Playing on Switch

• Local versus needs a second controller — Bandai Namco specifies one per player, and says nothing about single Joy-Con play.
• Online needs Nintendo Switch Online, a wired connection if you can manage one (Bandai Namco links Nintendo’s own wired-setup guide), and the matching range set to “Near”. The online guide has the full list.
• Day-one update: Switch version 1.02 went out on 27 August; it lists stability and usability improvements and nothing else.
• Achievements: none — Nintendo has no achievement system, so the 34 trophies on the achievements page are PS5, Xbox and Steam only.

Which version should you buy?

• You want handheld. Switch, and it is the only option: the PC version’s anti-cheat blocks Steam Deck.
• You want the game to look and run its best. PS5 or Xbox Series X — 4K, 60 fps, the same £54.99 / €69.99 as Switch.
• You want the cheapest copy in the UK or Europe. Steam, at £49.99 / €59.99 — but read the PC crash and anti-cheat notes first.
• You own the Switch version of Rise of New Champions. Switch, for the free Save Data Bonus Pack.
