World Fighters keeps one autosave and no manual slots on every platform. On PC, Steam Cloud is on for the game and syncs the save when the game starts and exits, so a second PC on the same account picks up your progress without copying anything. The PC folder, and how to back it up, are below.

The save folder on PC

CommunityBandai Namco has not published a save path. The folder below comes from the game’s Steam Auto-Cloud rules as SteamDB records them, which name it, an account-ID subfolder and a *.sav file pattern. The install instructions for a shared save on Nexus Mods point to the same place.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CaptainTsubasa2WF\Saved\SaveGames\<your Steam account ID>\
  1. Quit the game.
  2. Press Win + R, paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\CaptainTsubasa2WF\Saved\SaveGames, press Enter. Windows expands %LOCALAPPDATA% to C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local, the folder Valve’s Steamworks documentation maps that cloud root to.
  3. Open the numbered folder. The number is your Steam account ID, which Valve’s documentation illustrates with 67125541. With one Steam account on the PC, there is only one folder.
  4. The .sav file inside is your progress.

The same rules also list a folder inside the game’s install directory:

<Steam library>\steamapps\common\CaptainTsubasa2WF\CaptainTsubasa2WF\Saved\SaveGames\

If the AppData folder is empty, look there. You can get to the install directory from Steam: right-click the game → Manage → Browse local files.

One autosave, no slots

Bandai Namco’s spec table gives the save count as one autosave on PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Steam alike. CommunityThe Auto-Cloud rules SteamDB records match it: they sync at most one file for this game.

The game writes over that save as you play. You cannot keep a copy from before a hard story match or an Episode Challenge attempt inside the game. The only way to keep a second state is to copy the folder yourself.

Steam Cloud

Steam Cloud is on Steam’s feature list for the game. Steam syncs the save when the game launches and again when it exits, so the rule is simple: exit the game properly on one PC before you start it on another.

To check it or switch it off for this game only: right-click CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS in your Steam library → Properties… → General → Cloud Synchronization. With it off, Valve says progress is saved only on the PC where you made it.

Steam Cloud is not a backup. It syncs whatever the game wrote last, including a save you would rather not keep.

Back up and restore

First, find the active save folder. Check both locations above: the numbered folder under %LOCALAPPDATA%\CaptainTsubasa2WF\Saved\SaveGames\, and Saved\SaveGames\ inside the install directory. In Explorer’s details view, the folder holding the .sav with the newest Date modified is the one the game is using. Use that same folder for both the backup and the restore.

To back up: quit the game, then copy the active save folder somewhere outside the game’s folders, such as a dated folder in Documents or on a USB stick. Keep that copy until any restore is finished.

To restore:

  1. Quit the game.
  2. Turn Cloud Synchronization off for the game, so Steam leaves the local file alone.
  3. Copy your backed-up .sav into the active save folder, replacing the one there. Note its Date modified.
  4. Launch the game, check that your restored progress is there, and play until the game autosaves. Then quit.
  5. Look at the .sav again. If its Date modified has changed, the game has written a fresh autosave on this PC. If it has not, go back to step 4 and play a little longer.
  6. Turn Cloud Synchronization back on and launch the game again.
  7. If Steam shows its cloud conflict window, keep the local files. Valve’s support page says the window appears at launch when the local files and the cloud copy differ, and that Steam cannot choose for you. Check the dates and times it shows: the local copy is the one you just restored and played.

Downloaded saves. Complete saves shared by players replace your progress outright, so back up first. Bear in mind that Bandai Namco’s fair-play policy lists tampering with game data among the things that get an account moved out of normal matchmaking or suspended.

PS5, Xbox and Switch

  • PS5: the save lives on the console. With PS Plus, Sony’s auto-sync copies PS5 saved data to cloud storage when you close a game or put the console in rest mode. Turn it on under Settings → Saved Data and Game/App Settings → Saved Data (PS5) → Sync Saved Data.
  • Xbox Series X|S: the Xbox Store lists Xbox cloud saves among the game’s capabilities, so the save follows your Xbox profile to another console.
  • Nintendo Switch: Nintendo’s eShop listing includes Save Data Cloud among the game’s Nintendo Switch Online features, so a paid membership backs the save up.

A Rise of New Champions save matters for one thing Bandai Namco has published: on PS5 and Switch it unlocks the free Save Data Bonus Pack, as the editions guide explains.
