Sophia, voiced and motion-captured by Anna Demetriou, is the 22-year-old plunderer at the center of Resonance—the younger Sea Scorpion from Requiem. She travels with new companion Leni, while ancient Minoan echoes make Theseus a second playable hero.

Spoiler level: identities and setup only. No character fates or ending reveals.

Who is Sophia?

Resonance follows Sophia at 22, long before she meets Amicia and Hugo. She was raised among a band of plunderers and is already agile, forceful and comfortable with a blade. The prequel supplies the history behind the older captain known as the Sea Scorpion without requiring players to remember her Requiem scenes.

Anna Demetriou voices Sophia again and, for the first time, also performs her motion capture: in Focus’s developer-blog interview she says she had not done the physical performance for Requiem, and describes the prequel as filling in the history that made the older captain who she is. Her Greek-Cypriot heritage is a fact about the performer; it should not be used to invent an ethnicity for the character.

The recurring search phrase asking whether Sophia is a “gypsy” relies on a vague and often pejorative label. The published character background is specific: she was raised by a plunderer/pirate crew. Focus has not defined her through the ethnicity implied by that search wording.

Who is Leni?

Leni is Sophia’s new red-haired companion and a practical counterweight to her. Focus’s story setup places the pair together after the heist involving Sophia’s late father’s gang goes wrong. Her visual echo of Mélie from Innocence is easy to notice, but resemblance is not proof of a family connection.

Who is Theseus?

Theseus is the playable hero in the ancient Minoan strand. His fight against the evil consuming the island runs in parallel with Sophia’s medieval investigation. The Minoan sphere and the Macula’s legacy are what let those eras “resonate”; he is not simply a modern companion in different armor.

Do Amicia and Hugo return?

They are not the leads and the story is set before their births. The connection is thematic and mythological rather than a shared adventure. For the spoiler-free chronology, use the prequel and play-order guide.

Cast FAQ

Is Sophia the same woman from Requiem?

Can you play as Theseus?
