Hovgaard publishes a Living Roadmap with five blocks. Two have shipped — the modding update and 1.0. Three have not: two free content updates (Let the Good Tides Roll, then The Sky’s the Limit) and then the first DLC, Shanghai. None of the three carries a date.
The roadmap lives on Hovgaard’s own site as a single PNG, currently revision r4, dated 4 December 2025. That date matters: the roadmap was drawn before 1.0 shipped and has not been redrawn since, so it still shows the 1.0 block as upcoming. What follows is the same five blocks with the two finished ones marked off, and the wording kept close to the studio’s.
Hovgaard’s own framing, at the top of the image, is that these are “not promises but a glimpse into what we’re working towards”, that features may be dropped if they turn out not to be feasible, and that any dates are estimates. Read the list below with that attached to it.
The five blocks
Two are done. The other three have no date on them — Hovgaard gives estimates only for blocks it is actively working on. Of the two estimates it did give, 1.0 landed in the month promised and 0.11 slipped by one.
The Workshop Awakens
Early Access 0.11- Steam Workshop mod support, with no third-party loader needed
- Blueprint filtering so outdated community layouts stop surfacing
- A UI cleanup pass ahead of full release
- An optimisation pass for large business empires
Big Ambitions 1.0
Full release- The Hamptons — a luxury island area with player-owned homes reachable by car or boat
- A personal driver, hired so you stop hunting for taxis
- An HQ Pricing Manager who sets prices for every product across a neighbourhood
- Reworked loans, repayments, investments and tax information
- Food delivery to any home or business
Let the Good Tides Roll
Free content update 1Not yet shipped- Upper Bay — sail from Murray Hill to Industry City or the Hamptons, or take the ferry
- Boat Life — the big yacht gets an interior you can enter, decorate and live in
- The Statue of Liberty becomes somewhere you can sail around
The Sky's the Limit
Free content update 2Not yet shipped- Midtown Mall — a new interior region opposite StockCo holding several player-run businesses
- A special "General Store" mall location that can sell anything
- JFK Airport — enterable, with businesses inside, and a way to travel somewhere new
Shanghai
DLC #1Not yet shipped- Fly from JFK to Shanghai and take on a rival named Huang Guo on his home turf
The order is not arbitrary. The Sky’s the Limit opens JFK Airport, and Shanghai is where the airport flies you — the free update builds the door the DLC walks through, so the DLC cannot land first. The patch tracker covers everything shipping between these blocks.
What the roadmap does not contain
Two things people search for, neither of which is on it:
- Multiplayer or co-op. Nothing across all five blocks mentions it, and Steam lists the game as single-player with no co-op category. The closest the studio has ever come was a 2021 devlog that called post-release co-op a “dream” if wishlists kept growing — five years and a full release ago. There is a community multiplayer mod, and the mods page covers what it is.
- Console versions. The roadmap is silent, the store lists Windows and macOS, and no announcement has ever mentioned a console port.
The absence of either is not a refusal — a Living Roadmap is explicitly not a complete list of everything coming. It does mean that as of the current revision, neither is something Hovgaard has put its name to.
How this page is kept
- Sources: the roadmap image on Hovgaard’s official site, plus the two Steam announcements where the studio restated its post-launch intentions in its own words.
- Scope: what the studio has published. Community speculation, wishlists and “confirmed” claims that trace back to a forum post do not appear here.
- Checked: at least once a fortnight, and whenever the roadmap revision number changes. The build refuses to publish this page if that check falls more than 30 days behind. When r5 appears, this page is rewritten against it rather than patched.
