Sephiria has 27 achievements, and the table below is ordered by how many players actually have each one — Valve publishes that figure, so difficulty here is a number you can check rather than an opinion. Root's Retreat 30 is the rarest at 24.7%, and it stands alone — nothing else on the list is within 4.6 points of it.
Steam global unlock rates, captured 2026-09-15.
| Rarity | Achievement | Players | How it triggers |
|---|---|---|---|
| #1 rarest | Root's Retreat 30Clear Hard Mode Stage 30. | 24.7% | Clear a run on Hard Mode (in-game name: Root's Retreat) at stage/tier 30. You do NOT have to clear tiers 21/24/27 on the way — players confirm you can jump straight to 30 and the achievement fires.PlayersRepeatable — Hard Mode can be re-run indefinitely. |
| #2 rarest | Journey's EndHidden | 29.3% | Finish the game — reach the ending added in 1.0 (Chapter 6 ending cutscene + credits).OfficialNot missable, but has a KNOWN UNLOCK FAILURE. Official 1.0.23: 'If the final achievement was not unlocked, the game now attempts to restore it upon entering town.' If it did not fire, re-enter town on 1.0.23+. |
| #3 rarest | SealHidden | 29.4% | Not known. No official or community source describes it. |
| #4 rarest | Temple of EvilHidden | 30.2% | Not known. No official or community source describes it. |
| #5 rarest | Soul PlanHidden | 34.7% | In Bunnyville (the hub village), talk to the NPC Perr standing at the TOP-LEFT of the carrot fields, beside the farm. This starts a very short side quest. Go to the tree and watch the cutscene — then RETURN AND TALK TO PERR AGAIN. The second conversation is what fires the achievement; the cutscene alone does not.PlayersCANNOT CONFIRM the widely-repeated 'permanently missable after Chapter 4' claim. Evidence for: one post (2026-01-04) reports that after Chapter 4 the tree is gone from the Place of Recollection — in-game message 'Despite getting close, you don't feel any power.' — and Sephiroth's realm is inaccessible. That post is pre-1.0 (game was ~0.10.x/0.11.x), has not been re-tested on any 1.0 build, and TEAM HORAY has never acknowledged it. |

Official 0.10.5 added a fallback: Hard Mode (Root's Retreat) can be unlocked from the 'Destiny Inscription' menu if the normal unlock becomes unavailable after completing Chapter 4. |
| #14 rarest | At the End of the CaveDefeat the Guardian Demon of Qliphoth. | 60.0% | Defeat Kraz, the Guardian Demon of Qliphoth.OfficialBoss kill, repeatable. |

| #18 rarest | Hunting DuelDefeat the Shadow Blade. | 71.5% | Defeat the Shadow Blade. He is a RANDOM boss — players report he appears in place of the stage-2 boss, so you may need several runs to meet him at all.PlayersNot missable, but RNG-gated — repeat stage-2 clears until he appears. |

| #22 rarest | Where the Blue Being LivesHidden | 79.9% | Enter the Rift / Pocket Dimension during a run — the blue portal event room where you spend Sapphires on Artifacts.PlayersNot missable, but the Rift is a random event node — it will not appear every run. |
| #23 rarest | This Is Not StalkingDefeat the Mad Scientist. | 80.3% | Defeat Erma, the Mad Scientist.OfficialBoss kill, repeatable. |
| #24 rarest | TravelerFind a hidden room. | 84.9% | Break into a secret room. Look for fine cracks along the UPPER edge of a wall and hit it with any attack — no key, item or unlock needed.PlayersPre-1.0 source — described against an alpha build and never re-testedRepeatable, any run. |

| #27 rarest | DIYRepair your own house. | 92.1% | Buy the 'Home Repairs' node in the Destiny Inscription (Tier 1, 3 Sapphires), then go and actually repair the house in the village. Buying the node alone does not do it — it starts a quest.PlayersPre-1.0 source — described against an alpha build and never re-testedNot missable — the Destiny Inscription is permanent meta-progression. |
The one achievement that stands alone
The completion rates draw the answer without anyone having to argue about it. Root's Retreat 30 sits on its own at 24.7%, and the next achievement up is 4.6 points higher.
Right behind it, three achievements are bunched within a point of each other: Journey’s End at 29.3%, Seal at 29.4% and Temple of Evil at 30.2%. The field then jumps again, to 34.7% for Soul Plan.
Above that the field opens out and keeps climbing, from the mid-thirties all the way up. The most common achievement of all, DIY, sits at the far end at over ninety per cent — which is roughly the share of buyers who start the game at all.
This is the one thing a Sephiria achievement list can offer that an opinion cannot. Every other list ranks difficulty by how hard the writer found it. The bar in each row is the real number, and the link in the sources goes to the endpoint it came from, so you can check it against ours on any day you like.
What the game tells you, and what it does not
Three parts of this page are first-party and exact: the names, the descriptions Valve publishes, and the completion rates. All three come from Steam’s own endpoints.
The fourth part — what you actually have to do — is mostly not documented at all. 12 of the 27 are hidden achievements, which means Steam withholds the description until you unlock it. TEAM HORAY has never published a checklist. So:
- 13 triggers can be traced to a first-party Steam page — either one of TEAM HORAY’s patch announcements or Valve’s own achievement listing — and those rows link straight to it.
- The rest come from players. Most of those rows link to the thread they came from; a few are general knowledge repeated in many places with no single thread worth citing, and those carry the community marker without a link.
- 3 have no known trigger at all. Not “probably this” — nobody has written down how they fire. Those rows say so instead of guessing, and you can filter for them.
- 2 triggers are described only by guides written against the 0.7.31 alpha build in April 2025 — seventeen months and two chapters before the current version. Those rows carry a warning, because a step that worked in alpha may simply not exist now.
Soul Plan, and a myth worth correcting
Soul Plan is the one people arrive looking for, and it is not rare because it is hard. It is the
fifth-rarest of the twenty-seven — four achievements are rarer — so it is a findability problem, not a
difficulty one. The in-game hint reads “Meet the tree with Perr”, which is not much to go on.
What players report, consistently, across the threads linked below:
- In the village, find Perr at the top-left of the carrot fields, by the farm.
- Talk to Perr. A very short side quest starts.
- Go to the tree and watch the cutscene.
- Go back and talk to Perr again. This second conversation is what fires it — the cutscene alone does not.
Now the correction. It is widely repeated that Soul Plan is permanently missable after Chapter 4. We could not confirm that, and this page will not repeat it as fact.
All the evidence for it is one pre-1.0 post, reporting that the tree had gone from the Place of Recollection on a build two versions before release. Nobody has re-tested it since, and TEAM HORAY has never said it. There is no evidence against it either — we looked, and found none that actually covers this achievement.
So the honest position is that nobody has established it either way on 1.0.33. If you have not got it yet, go and do the four steps: the case that it is already too late has never been tested against the version you are playing, and the cost of trying is a walk across the village.
Root’s Retreat 15 comes free with 30
Worth knowing before you plan a route: clearing Root’s Retreat 30 grants the tier-15 achievement as well. Three players confirmed this independently. There is no achievement above tier 30 either, so pushing Hard Mode to 50 or 60 earns you nothing on this list — the 1.0 update raised the ceiling to level 60, but the achievements stopped at 30.
